Sailboat on the open sea

Local Dalmatian Skipper

Out at sea it's a different world

I don't see sailing as a performance or just another item on a holiday checklist. More like a moment when you can switch off, leave the everyday rhythm behind and start noticing the space, the calm and the sea around you again.

I love Dalmatia for what it really is. Not only its famous spots, but also the small harbours, the morning light on the water, the quiet between the islands and the atmosphere that keeps bringing people back.

About me

The sea has pulled me in since I was a child. On family holidays I was always more interested in the harbours, the boats and everything around them than in the beach.

Fifteen years ago I passed my skipper exams in Croatia, and ever since I've spent long weeks on the boat here every year. That's how I really came to know Dalmatia — differently than the usual visitor.

At the same time I spent my whole working life in business, with plenty of responsibility, thinking and decisions that were anything but small. Over time I got to a point where I didn't want to live only at that pace anymore.

At fifty I moved to Kaštela, between Split and Trogir, and I've been living here for five years now. Dalmatia has become home.

I still run my companies remotely, so I don't go out to sea because I have to, but because I want to. I do it mainly for the joy of it — because I love the sea, boats and the kind of people it's nice to sail with.

I enjoy good conversations about politics, society, technology and life in general. Other passions belong to that — diving, skiing, water sports and really travelling anywhere there's something to discover.

Dalmatia

I know Croatia very well, from the north all the way down to the south. I've travelled it by land and by sea, and I know that every part of it has its own charm. But Dalmatia is the one closest to me.

There's something about it that's hard to describe and easy to recognise. Stone towns, islands, the open sea, small harbours and a particular calm you can feel even in high season. You can spend a day in a quiet bay and the evening on a waterfront in a place that has history, character and a normal life of its own.

For me Dalmatia isn't just famous names and pretty pictures. It's the morning light on the water, coffee in a harbour, swimming off the main routes and the feeling that you're not just on holiday — you're actually somewhere.

That's what I love about it most. And that's what I'd like to show the people who sail with me.

Hvar

Hvar can be lively, elegant and a touch showy, but it still has its charm. Once you look past the most obvious side of it, you find a beautiful town with history and an atmosphere that simply belongs to Dalmatia.

Stari Grad

Stari Grad is different from Hvar. Quieter, older and less flashy. It's a place where no one is in a hurry and where the past is present in a completely natural way.

Vis

Vis kept its distance from mass tourism for a long time, and you can still feel it. It has calm, authenticity and something that's getting harder and harder to find elsewhere these days.

Komiža

Komiža is one of those places you remember. A small fishing harbour, stone houses, the sea right by the promenade and a setting that feels real rather than staged.

Milna

Milna on Brač is a calm and pleasant stop you're happy to come back to. It has a nice harbour, a good location and exactly that unobtrusive Dalmatian ease that just works on its own.

Bol

Bol is mostly known because of Zlatni Rat, but it would be a shame to see it only through one beach. It has its own energy, beautiful sea and a character that means it never feels like just another spot on the tourist map.

Trogir

Trogir has a beautiful historic core listed as a UNESCO site. Narrow lanes, stone façades, the cathedral and a waterfront full of boats — all within a few hundred metres. Over morning coffee it has its own rhythm that doesn't get lost in the evening bustle.

Kaštela

Kaštela is home for me. Seven villages along the coast, normal Dalmatian life and a calm that doesn't change much with the season. It isn't a typical tourist spot, and that's exactly why I like coming back — even off the boat.

Split

Split has the rhythm of a bigger city, but its heart is still Diocletian's Palace — ancient walls that everyday life has grown into. Markets, cafés, boats in the harbour and the sea you can see from almost any corner. A great starting point from the boat and a beautiful city from the shore.

Services

Skipper for week-long trips

This is my main role at sea today. I can come on board as skipper for a week-long trip practically anywhere in Croatia — for a private group, a family, a bunch of friends or a company organising a trip like this.

One-day trips

By arrangement we can also go out for a shorter one-day trip, mainly around Split, Trogir and the nearby islands.

Help with arranging a boat

When it's needed, I can also help arrange a boat through a charter company. It's not my main activity, but when it comes up, I'm happy to help.

Tailored by arrangement

We can also sort out other practical things around the trip or your stay in Croatia. The principle is simple — almost everything comes down to talking it through.

My rate is 170 EUR per day. I don't charge travel costs to the boat within Croatia.

What's a little different with me

I live in Croatia

I'm based in Kaštela between Split and Trogir, so when something is needed I can react within hours.

Czech, Polish and Croatian

Polish, Czech and Croatian are essentially mother tongues to me. I get by in English without a problem.

I work flexibly

I'm not trying to fill the whole season far ahead. I prefer specific trips and a normal agreement that works for both sides.
